The difference and advantages between LED flexible strip lights and LED strip lights

Strip lights, or LED strip lights, are often referred to as just "strip" for short. People tend to abbreviate the name to make it easier to say. 

This also includes old strip lights such as those using wire connections instead of FPC or PCB, as well as flexible and rigid strip lights.

In other words, strip lights include the following three types:

  • Old LED strip lights connected directly with wire;

  • Flexible strip lights with FPC;

  • Rigid strip lights with PCB.

From its name, LED flexible strip lights differ from ordinary strip lights in that they have the added feature of "flexibility", while also possessing the basic functions of LED strip lights.

LED flexible strip lights weld LED bulbs onto copper wire or a belt-shaped flexible circuit board using special processing techniques, and connect them to a power source to produce light. They are called "strip lights" because the light-emitting shape is like a strip of light.

Today, LED flexible strip lights use a flexible circuit board or FPC as the carrier, simplifying the processing technology, easy to control quality, having a long lifetime, high color and brightness, and gradually replacing early strip lights.

According to different requirements for waterproof grade and usage areas, flexible strip lights can be divided into: bare board, dripping glue, casing, and filling glue strip lights.

  • Bare board: for indoor use, not waterproof;

  • Dripping glue: a layer of colorless and transparent epoxy or PU glue is directly dripped onto the surface of the light bar board, with a relatively low waterproofing grade;

  • Casing: a silicone tube covering on the light bar improves the waterproof grade;

  • U-groove dripping glue: dripping glue on the surface of the U-groove increases the waterproof grade;

  • Solid casing dripping glue: in addition to a silicone sleeve, glue is injected to achieve full waterproofing, suitable for working in complex outdoor environments with china outdoor led tape light;

Flexible silicone strip lights are made by using a flexible circuit board (FPC, PCBA, etc.) and elastic silicone rubber material, extruded and molded using CL-26AB-8L hot vulcanized glue.

Compared with the old versions of silicone sleeve LED strip lights, the silicone flex lights have a one-piece extruded silicone body, with no air contact between the circuit board and silicone. Besides the advantages of ordinary soft strip lights, they have the following features:

  • Good light transmittance, high refraction, no light spots, uniform illumination, strong weather resistance, longer lifespan, and other hard advantages;

  • They have a higher level of safety, can be cut to length, easy to bend (can be rolled 360 degrees, essential for creating shapes), require no maintenance, and have a beautiful appearance.
